The South Florida real estate market is still hot, according to recent figures released by the Miami Association of Realtors, the local Multiple Listing Service and CoreLogic. The new figures show that sales and home prices in the area continue to increase, while foreclosure rates decrease.

A Florida proposal seeks to limit the number of days per year a homestead property can be rented without adversely affecting the homestead status of the property. The proposed bill allows the rental of a homestead property for up to 30 days in a year. If a homestead property is rented for more than 30 days for two consecutive years, the property will be considered abandoned as a permanent residence and the homestead tax exemption will be lost.

One Thousand Ocean, a 7-story luxury building in Boca Raton, has closed two more units, bringing the oceanfront property to 91% occupancy. The recently sold units, a 2-story beach villa and a penthouse, totaled 11 million dollars.

Famed architect Zaha Hadid revealed the design for her proposed luxury condominiums in Miami. The 61-story tower, known as One Thousand Museum, marks her first residential project in the United States. The tower features an ultramodern exoskeleton and is set to rise on Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami.

Many luxury oceanfront condominiums in Miami have been selling way before construction begins. One example of this is Peloro, A new luxury waterfront condominium tower set for construction in Miami Beach. Sales started about three months ago and seventy five percent of the 115 units have already been reserved for sale.
