Famed architect Zaha Hadid revealed the design for her proposed luxury condominiums in Miami. The sixty-one story tower, known as One Thousand Museum, marks her first residential project in the United States. The tower features an ultramodern exoskeleton and is set to rise on Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami.
The developers of the project are confident in the city’s luxury market. The residences will start at four million dollars, with penthouses costing in excess of thirty million dollars. This pricing translates to approximately nine hundred dollars per square foot.
Hadid, a Pritzker Prize-winner, owns a condo in the W South Beach and has long hoped to undertake a local project. She recently told the Wall Street Journal, “I really love Miami, but I don’t think the architecture matches the city. It’s a bit too commercial.”
One Thousand Museum is hoping to change that. Buyers flock to South Florida for the waterfront views and energy. Hadid’s tower will capitalize on the location, without sacrificing innovative design. The project further marks the city of Miami as an up-and-coming cosmopolitan center.
