Today (February 15th) marks the beginning of the Miami International Boat Show. This 5 day event, located at the Miami Marine Stadium, takes place from February 15th to the 19th from 10am to 6pm. The event is expected to draw more than 100,000 boating and marine enthusiasts from 35 different countries to the area. According to the official website, the attraction will span more than 1 million square feet, offering attendees the opportunity to view and purchase the newest and trendiest items in the boating industry.
Approximately 1,400 boats will be on display on land and in the water during the show. There will also be plenty of activities and events to enjoy, including boating simulators, DIY and maintenance seminars, interactive sailing seminars, hands-on powerboa skills training and much more. The show is boasting the finest collection of power and sailing products ever in one location. There will be more than 170 distict boat brands and thousands of marine related products and accessories spread across the expansive Miami Marine Stadium.
Described as the “boating event of the season,” the show is kid-friendly and expected to bring a sizable economic boost to the area. According to the official website, the overall economic impact is projected to be $854 million, with $53 million from out-of-town travelers.
The show is located at 3501 Rickenbacker Causeway on Virginia Key in Miami. There are a number of ways to get there including water taxis and shuttles. Regardless of how you get there, but especially if you're driving, be sure to pack some patience with you as getting to and from Virginia Key can be a slow moving affair. Admission for a single day ranges from $40 for Thursday to $25 for the rest of the days. Children 12 and under get in for free.
