It’s that time of year again, when the weather cools, you and some of your friends return to South Florida for the winter months, and the renowned Art Basel Miami Beach begins. If you are an art connoisseur, you know all about Art Basel and you have probably been to the one in Switzerland as well as to the sister Art Basel on Miami Beach.
Miami Beach has become a mecca for cutting edge sophistication with some of the most exquisite luxury oceanfront hotels, exciting and entertaining night life, and fine dining. Miami attracts many affluent and influential artists and art collectors from around the world, making this an ideal location for the prestigious Art Basel.
Art Basel is considered one of the most respected art shows in the Americas, with more than 260 leading galleries from North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa showcasing the works of more than 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Art Basel, it is a prominent art show that beings in the city of Basel, Switzerland in June and lasts for five days. The sister event opens in Miami Beach every December. Thousands of artists, curators, collectors, dealers, critics, and art lovers come together at the shows to view the works of art of artistic icons as well as those who are new to the art scene.
Don’t be surprised to see the art work of Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollack just to name a few. There is something for every type of artistic taste including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, installation as well as digital video art.
Art Basel Miami Beach takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and begins with a VIP showing Wednesday December 5, and is open to the public December 6-9.
