South Florida remained one of the top metro areas for all cash home sales in January 2015. Miami came in second, with 59 percent of sales being cash. Detroit, Michigan came in first place at 65.5 percent, with West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale occupying the third and fifth spots.
Overall, the state of Florida saw the biggest share of cash sales at 56.3 percent. Florida was followed by Alabama and New York. In January 2011, cash sales made of 46.5 percent of home sales in the United States. In January of this year, cash sales made up 38.9 percent of the market.
