Miami and Boca Raton have some of the fastest-growing economies in the country. Miami came in second out of 64 cities with over 300,000 in population, and Boca Raton came in tenth out of 211 cities with a population of less than 100,000. Some of the key metrics measured by the study included the decrease in the poverty rate, growth in the number of small businesses and growth of household income.
Cities in South Florida continue to bring in new jobs. The area has become a business hub and as such, is attracting entrepreneurs. The economy in South Florida has expanded way beyond tourism.
Along with a rapidly growing economy, Miami's population also grew the most out of the country's large cities. The population in Miami jumped 7.7 percent from 2010 to 2014. The city also topped the list of full-time job growth.
