20, 2013
The real estate market in Broward County continues to sizzle. In August, the median home price increased 26 percent from August 2012. It was the ninth consecutive month that the median price rose by more than 20 percent.
August home sales were solid, despite the limited inventory. Over the month, 1,396 homes sold, a 2 percent gain over the previous year. There were 4,440 homes for sale at the end of August in Broward County, a 6 percent decrease from August 2012. However, the number of new home listings increased by 20 percent, as more sellers entered the market hoping to capitalize on recent housing trends.
