Faena District Planned to Put South Miami on the Cosmopolitan Map

Alan Faena, a prominent Argentinean hotelier and real estate developer, has made it his mission to revolutionize South Miami’s beachfront. His starting point is the Faena House Residences, a luxury oceanfront condominium building on Collins Avenue.

“I’m working on one of the best projects in all of the Americas,” Faena told Forbes Magazine, “we are creating a whole district,” he added.

Faena did the same for Buenos Aires neighborhood of Puerto Madero. He took a set of rundown buildings in the area and turned them into some of that city’s most expensive and lavish hotels and condominiums.

His plans for Miami include a five block district that will include a magnificent condominium tower, a theatre, cultural center and parking garage. Celebrity architect Rem Koolhaus is joining the project and will create a structure containing a hotel and ballroom, retail space, cultural and robotic garage. The Miami Beach project will also include a 300-person theatre, “intimate cabaret”, and a possible redesign of the beach boardwalk at the new Faena House site, according to Curbed Miami.  The private neighborhood will be referred to as Faena District.        

The Faena House is at the center of this new cosmopolitan district and is planned to be on the same scale as The Setai, The Continuum and Apogee. This luxury oceanfront condo building will consist of 19 stories and 62,000 square feet of residential space as well as three full-floor Penthouses (with private elevators). Each condo will be fully furnished with one to five bedrooms, and all the fixtures and appliances will be selected by the architects. The luxury residences will include a wraparound terrace, and the square footage will range from 1,307 to 4,307. Each oceanfront condo will have a custom-designed floor-to-ceiling window wall system. Sales for the Faena House started this week and the building broke ground just last month.
